I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as a technical, is in fact, GNU/Technical, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Technical.

Took the dogs to the vet the other day to get their shots, and the friggin rabies tags were Texas-shaped. Ugly!

30·12 days agoThis is not completely correct though. It is our atmosphere/albedo/geological and natural processes that help maintain consistently livable temperatures, not just living in the habitable zone. No atmosphere? We’d be like the Moon, where it is too hot in sunlight and too cold in shade despite being similarly far from the sun as Earth.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•[CLOSED] what fediverse services do you recommend?
20·12 days agoIf you’re not paying for domain and hosting someone else is. If you are so sure that’s free, why don’t you self-host your own instance?
I don’t know anything at all about communick, just saying. Supporting a fediverse provider run by individuals who otherwise volunteer their time monetarily is a virtue not a sin, and plenty of open projects do this.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you like working from home? Yes or no, gimme some reasons.
18·15 days agoI’d say not having to commute is a huge benefit of WFH, but it has some pitfalls that can negatively impact your work performance depending on what you do.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anyone else about ready to give up on tech?
12·1 month agoNot give up on tech, but definitely refocus to resilient local solutions. And trying to minimize the harms of being always connected to the extent possible for living in society.
Millenials pwnd the n00bs with the best of the genX back in the day, but I think leetspeak was a lot more niche than say 67 is, it was very gamercoded/nerdcoded when that wasn’t cool.

Imagine how great it would be if you had a dom who could think of your best interests and nag you to do the right thing oh wait we just reinvented parents with extra steps.

131·4 months agoSince you said “house” I’m going to push back a little bit. Housing is unaffordable and we should address it but single-family homes are not a feasible solution for a lot of places and situations.
Definitely one of the fastest way to start arguments, especially among people left-of-center.

I forgot about this game, was pretty neat. A good way to learn about all the cars they made. If you find it in a PS1 game bargain bin somewhere check it out.
