No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Under the most ideal circumstances, how 'clean' is drinkable tap water by the time it reaches our taps?
8·6 days agoBut don’t be drinking distilled water or it will pull all the minerals out of your body. Like iron etc.
My shower clothes would dry. Its not like they’d be wet for eternity.
phonics@lemmy.worldtoShowerthoughts@lemmy.world•As soon as people could read, ages ago when they had fuck all to do they sat down and wrote (books, letters) for fun. Now, when people have fuck all to do they write internets for fun. NO CHANGE!
1·12 days agoExactly. However if you were weaving silk, you were making bank.

4·13 days agoBefore the mechanical loom. The whole world was basically creating thread and weaving full time. It would take just as long to hand make a sail for a viking ship as it would to make the whole rest of the ship.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you rather have hundreds of millions of dollars and be acutely aware of all the bad things going on, or a meager yet sustainable life and completely ignorant of everything.
2·27 days agoCould buy crypto. Then sell the crypto for money again. And it’d be different money. And you are being selfish because your will is trying to do things that are not allowed.

Games@lemmy.world•TRIMUI Brick Hammer, a weirdly named but beautiful handheldEnglish
101·1 month agoIve got the brick. Not the brick hammer. And it’s really quite fun to have. I’d whip it out on public transport or a plane faster than my steamdeck just because it’s less bulky. I mostly play pico-8 games on it.
Hope it works out for you. I use it mostly for bullet points with tabbed in children. But if your looking for more long form you can switch the mode by clicking your mouse in the margin so your not inputting text then pressing T then D . you get out of the mode again with the same shortcut 👍
Ah yeah true.
I like logseq. Obsidian is also popular.

Technology@lemmy.zip•You can break apart and share this 10K power bank like a KitKat barEnglish
1·2 months agoWould be cool to have 2 that can bundle together for getting them on an airplane. So carrying 1 each. But I don’t like cumbersome on airplanes.
I’d love to try kagi. But never bit the bullet. I currently duckduckgo atm. But don’t like how it’s AI is generating me answers before results. Take me back to the real web!
phonics@lemmy.worldtoShowerthoughts@lemmy.world•If God truly is ‘all-powerful’ and ‘omnipotent,’ then Jesus dying wasn’t the only way to ‘save us.’”
1·2 months agoIt was a message, makes sense to speak the language of the people you are talking to. If God just 4d time tesseracted instead people wouldn’t get it.

37·2 months agoHe didn’t HAVE to do anything to be fair. Biblically it was a gift of love (as messed up as that is).And yeah perhaps there was another way, but that’s the way he chose. If he slaughtered a pig, you’d probably be like why didn’t he offer his own son? Doesn’t really have anything to do with omnipotence. Sacrifice was common in those days with goats etc. So it matches the culture of the day. Also kind of mirrors and reflects on the Abraham story too.
Also biblically God, Jesus and the holy spirit are technically one. Not really sure how that changes anything but is interesting to think about.
Here’s the biblical text if youre interested John 3:16 ESV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
I’m just some guy and dont have all the answers or am looking to battle about it. But I’m happy to chat if we keep it chill. Why is God’s omnipotence important to you?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How does internet advertising work? Where is all the money coming from? More...
11·2 months agoAds are actually pretty incredible. If no one knows your brand, all it takes is money to tell em. It’s like a short cut compared to having a good product and word of mouth.
Its essentially like a cold call, but you know the audience is at least generally interested in your topic because of targeting. All that data that is being taken and sold from you, is being sold to avertizers.
Pay Google for getting on search on Google and youtube.
Pay meta to get ads on Insta and Facebook.
If you spend $500 to sell a $3000 product, it’s a no brainer. Ita basically printing money when it works. So yeah, companies are paying when the results match. But also when they are testing the waters to see if its worth it to them.
Na youre good. No worries. Let this be my gift to you 🎅

When a workflow is bottlenecked I write it down in a list of things to solve in the future and continue with the rest of the work. And one regular schedule I make appointments with myself to solve bottlenecks and streamline things. Its really powerful. Instead of getting distracted during the day. Stay in flow, sort it later.
I use logseq for my notes.
