This. People were already protesting ICE long before Renée Good got killed. The racists, white supremacists, and nazis are still not protesting today. They don’t care if a murdered protestor is white. A Nazi is going to view any white protesters as race traitors. What’s happening right now is a dramatic shift in the scope of what ICE is doing. Rather than simply targeting immigrants, it’s being deployed against protestors and in crowd control efforts. The extent of people they’re targeting and how they’re targeting them is dramatically expanding as well.

In 2025, at least 32 people died in custody after being detained by ICE. This has caused massive protests nationwide.

But in 2025, there were only 2 people known to have been shot and killed by ICE:

Silverio Villegas González - September 12 - undocumented immigrant shot and killed by ICE in his car after dropping his kids off at school in Chicago. Video circulated online of his window getting broken out and him getting dragged out of the car after being shot.

Keith Porter - December 31 - African American father shot and killed in Los Angeles while allegedly setting off fireworks. There are no videos of what happened.

The first people shot and killed by ICE in 2026 include:

Renée Good - January 7 - woman shot and killed in her vehicle in Minneapolis. Videos of the incident circulated online. She was not actively protesting.

Alex Pretti - January 24 - protestor murdered execution style in Minneapolis for attempting to help a woman get safely to a sidewalk.

That’s it. This image includes completely incorrect information. Jaime Alanís Garcia died from breaking his neck after allegedly falling 30 feet from a building while a cannabis farm was being raided by ICE in Ventura County, California. ICE and CBP claims they were not targeting him. There’s no video of the incident.

Stuff is dramatically escalating, and it’s presumably about to get much much worse.

  • A widespread general strike will likely never happen because most people would be fired on the spot if they told their boss they were going on a strike. If you get fired, you don’t qualify for unemployment, and most people are only a single paycheck away from being homeless. I guess people from a lot of countries do not understand this concept because they had the privilege of actual workers rights.

We’ve been protesting. The frustration you have from thinking we’re doing nothing is the same frustration we have with the so called Representatives sitting with their thumbs up their asses. They don’t care what we think. They straight up make fun of us for trying. With the exception of Greenland and Canada, the rest of the world does not understand the pure rage, frustration, and fear we’re dealing with every single day. If you’re somewhere like mainland Europe, you’re in a far safer place than we are right now. You don’t have to worry about if and when your friends and family will get randomly kidnapped by ICE. You don’t have to worry about when you too will get put in a concentration camp simply for having leftist political views. If the US actually goes through with invading Greenland, what do you think that is going to mean for those inside of the US? The country would immediately tear apart. All US bonds would immediately get dumped, and there would be a worldwide economic collapse. The only silver lining would be that the American war machine would also hopefully collapse. It may be large, but it’s expensive to run. The entire US would turn into something that looks like the Bosnian War. Due to the US facing an internal collapse, Canada would likely be able to resist occupation, and Greenland would be won back from any kind of conquest. While awful things would happen in mainland Europe, they would pale in comparison to whatever happened in the US. We’re dealing with fascists, and there would probably be hundreds of Tiananmen Square type events. This last few months has involved coming to terms that we probably will never have a chance to live a full life because we’ll be dead long before old age ever comes.

We’re not a country of soldiers. We’re just regular people. Despite whatever you might think, most people do not own guns or know how to use them. Do you expect people to leave their children homeless and without food over a 1 day strike? Do you understand that if a war happens, most of us will probably end up dead simply from being inside of the US? And even if there isn’t a war, we may 2 years or less until we get put in a concentration camp simply for being against Trump. I fucking worry every day that my friends could get disappeared at any moment. You see stuff in the news about Minneapolis, but ICE is in every city. Over 1000 miles away, they’ve been going door to door near some of my closest friends. To suggest we are content is batshit. We are not okay with anything. I’m not going to apologize for the threats of an orange megalomaniac that I continually try to resist.

If you’re outside of the US, you absolutely can do stuff. Stop buying things that feed the monster. Build defenses and deterrents against US aggression. And get the money out of your own politics too. Stay vigilant. You don’t want to go down this road, and it’s closer than you’d think. If the US goes to war, it won’t win. We might all be dead, but maybe the world will reset and fascism will fall.

  • Outside of the US, stuff is at least not as bleak. It’s a bit harder to destroy things that have been established for so long. Like in New Orleans, things had been established for a long time and it took a natural disaster (Katrina) to destroy the independent venues. But there are no protections against late stage capitalism in the US. Often, taxes alone will destroy independent venues. And yeah, I don’t have any hope in the US government doing anything to help. It would sooner call all music a form of terrorism and make it illegal.

  • Do you live outside of the United States or something? Or just not go to concerts? Live Nation owns almost all of the small venues too. They’ve bought nearly everything out, and the few remaining independent venues are on life support. And if you’re a local band, good luck. 20 years ago, venues would pay you to play. But now you have to pay them like $200 just for the privilege of playing at a small venue with a 350 person capacity. In my city less than 20 years ago, I remember being able to walk downtown in the music district on any day of the week, and there would be over a dozen venues right next to each other all playing something different. It could be a Tuesday night. Music was everywhere, and tickets were $6-20. But there was also tons of free stuff. But after the venues all got bought out, that all stopped. There’s not enough big money in music 7 days every week. A lot of venues now only have shows as little as twice a month. And then they’ll want to charge $70+.

Why shouldn’t we be outraged? Music culture is being destroyed. Your “stop going to shows” solution isn’t a solution. Nobody is going to concerts several times in a week anymore. What there once was has been destroyed. Live Nation needs to die.

  • Don’t forget about Peruvian food with G - literally some of the best food on the planet. Since the contest began in 2012, Peru has won World’s Leading Culinary Destination in the World Travel Awards every single year except for one. But a lot of people have no idea that the cuisine even exists. G also has a lot of fusion foods such as Vietcajun and Chifa.

But if you’re vegetarian, D is the obvious choice.

To say he was a generally great guy really overlooks how awful he was to women. He was no doubt brilliant, but he had some very serious character flaws. And unfortunately, he had an echo chamber of peers and a rockstar celebrity status that only worked to reinforce his shitty behavior and backwards views. It’s not super uncommon for brilliant people to be absolutely nightmares on a personal level. Imagine being an absolutely brilliant scientist that gets married only to be completely forbidden from science and the things you love, and then reduced to being a maid for a madman with tons of insanely particular demands.

  • Or suppressed. I’ll give some anecdotal examples. I have a friend that lives in a major metropolitan area with over 2.6 million people. When he applied to get a photo ID (he lost his previous one and needed a new one), the soonest appointment available for the entire metropolitan area was 3 months out. That’s just for the appointment to apply for the ID, not actually receiving the ID. You are required to have a photo ID to vote. Then, voter registration in itself must also be completed at least a month before an election. Now, let’s talk about the process of actually voting. I’ve personally stood in line for over 6 hours to vote. A lot of the people waiting in line had to leave to pick up their kids and other things. If you don’t pick up your kids from school or daycare at very specific times, there are serious penalties. While I was waiting, there must have been at least 40 people in front of me that had to leave before voting. Many of them had waited in line for over 4 hours. For most people, waiting in line is the only way to vote. Only the elderly and disabled qualify to vote by mail. Make no mistake, voter suppression is very effective, and it is implemented specifically in areas that vote against what the ruling party wants. In Trump leaning areas, the lines were no longer than a two minute wait if they existed at all. Trump never would have won either election if it wasn’t for voter suppression.
