Cats shouldn’t be bathed. They clean themselves perfectly fine. This is just cruelty to them.

Edit: to all those coming at me with these rare occasions of cats plunging into something poisonous and need to be rescued by bathing them: do you honestly think, that this “funny” post is about a cat which needed a bath because it fell into something deadly?

  • Do I know why that happened to you? No, just guessing.

What I do know though: if it was like some replies here suggest, that it’s all due to IT folks not playing well with others, then forums like stack overflow wouldn’t exist.

What I also know: I’ve been to a lot of forums, not all IT related, and I met quite a few people online who just love to be rude, regardless of the topic.

So if I had to guess why, I’d say because they are assholes, not because it was an IT forum.

  • I can be social, for about 2-3 hours, and then from one second to the other I need to go home, immediately. If I don’t: meltdown.

I can work in a team, but if coworkers are put on after shave or perfume and I have to sit in the same room, the olfactory sensation pierces my mind and every other perception fades. It drives me insane and I can’t focus on anything else.

People often think I’m being sarcastic if I take a joke as serious, but quite often I simply don’t understand jokes. That doesn’t mean I can’t be sarcastic, I can!

I feel like I’m not NT enough to get along, but I’m also not far enough into the spectrum to get the help I need.

I’m officially diagnosed and still a lot of NTs tell me stuff like “oh, we all need to get away from parties sometimes because it’s too much …oh, we all have our rituals … oh, we all are sensitive sometimes”, insisting that I need to be like them: NT.

Yes, I too wish sometimes I was more “obvious”.

  • Do I think Maduro is a great guy? No, of course not. Does that mean I think the US action in Venezuela is justified? Definitely not. This isn’t about Maduro, it’s about the US going into another country kidnapping someone just because he’s in the way of their interests.

What if the next time it’s someone you don’t think is an arsehole? Who decides how much of an arsehole someone needs to be for the US to kidnap that person and for you to be ok with that?

  • “You exchange real money at a booth, and in return you get tokens or fake currency that are only usable inside that ecosystem.”

To me that sounds like Reddit’s award system.

    “Boosting posts or creators (opt-in)”

I hate this idea. I don’t want algorithms nor paid boosting to change the sorting of content. That’s one of the reasons I left Reddit.

Instead of introducing a complex internal currency or paid boosting, Fediverse instances could adopt a simple, transparent system inspired by Signal’s (the messenger) supporter badges.

Users voluntarily donate to their instance (one-time or recurring). In return, their profile gets a small, instance specific badge visible next to their avatar.

Badges are purely visual, they don’t have any influence on post visibility or sorting.

    Edit:

I forgot to mention, that the badges are only visible for a certain time, like a month or so

I’m not saying, that this is the best solution, but to me this solution is fair, doesn’t interfere with the core values of the fediverse and still raises awareness of the importance of financial support.

  • My first thought was that rising poverty, which disproportionately affects African-American communities, plays a major role. Poverty often leads to poor diets, which in turn worsen underlying health conditions. Add the stress of working multiple jobs (because you can’t afford to have only one) and you have your perfect recipe for declining health.
