Surely they still work in areas without cellular service though? Perhaps it’s better to Faraday cage the module than remove a sim card or fuse, so the car just thinks it has no service.

Really cool project and I hope this proof of concept pushes more municipalities to do similar things. However, I’m sorry Rob, I just can’t stand your voice.

ID scanning has been a thing at clubs in Canada for a long time. There was no marketing associated, but I imagine it was an easy way to identify people banned from the bar.

The CIRA website lists a few when you search for an available name.

Looks cool. Any chance you’ll add Qobuz to the integration list in the future?

I recently heard the opinion of Dan Wang that the USA and is a country governed by lawyers, and China is a country governed by engineers.

It’s so nice that he could also include all his friends in that picture.
How so? Unlike other providers, their incentives are directly aligned with providing a great search experience and not harvesting every bit of information from you or pushing ads instead of search results to generate revenue.

Benn Jordan did a recent video on his…explorations of Flock cameras. Essentially, they’re easily hackable and really should be an urgent matter of national security.
Shoutout to Kagi, where good search is the only thing you get.

Just blame immigrants for the problem, they’ll let those comments stay for sure.

I’d say it’s highly likely that archivists/data hoarders pulled all available photos at time of release. They’ll exist somewhere.
Mine ID’d a cursed shrek face from someone wearing a costume at a Mexican resort.
