No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Am I cognitively performing less than I could've been if I hadn't drunk alcohol at that age?
12·4 months agoOn a whole life of exposure to things that give cognitive decline, apart from that happening naturally with aging (of course with overlap between those two things) the effect is probably not that big, but these last years research has shown that no amount of alcohol is safe for brain health. So you probably lost some cognitive function. But thievish probably not that significant against a whole life. And besides brain plasticity (which is mostly activated by using it) makes it so that this is a sort of unanswerable/unmeasurable question.
In short since it is in the past (don’t know how much) and was only a year, and I’m assuming you didn’t go on a weekly blackout drinking session; don’t stress about it too much, that’s not good for cognitive function ;p

Android@lemmy.world•Google tries to justify Android's upcoming sideloading restrictionsEnglish
24·4 months agoStop calling this sideloading, it’s just installing software on a computer. The term makes it an easy ‘other’ to be distrusted. And this concerns all apps not just apps coming from a different app store. Google wants to control all the apps you’re allowed to install by them

Europe@feddit.org•Senay Boztas: Amsterdam’s squatter wars are back – and wealthy Dutch homeowners have only themselves to blameEnglish
21·5 months agoExcept if you think about it the problem is not that legal immigrants have a right to housing but that our 20 year long right wing neoliberal government has forced social housing developers to compete with for profit developers while hampering them with al sorts of taxes and rules that make it impossible to stay afloat (I’m not even talking profit here as that is prohibited for social housing developers). So forcing market forces in a sector that is not a normal economic market and then giving them extra rules that make it that they cant even compete and survive.

8·6 months agoIt’s only assumed the Netherlands opposes it because of the now fallen governments stance on it before. We all know that their campaign promises and ‘regeerakkoord’ are completly meaningless. So I’m still trying to call and emailing the dutch MEP’s
Might be a CT scan slice through the protrusions(epicondyles) of the femur while the knee is bent 90°. So the lenght of the femur is coming out the back of this picture. Or the same posture and angle bit with a normal X-ray. Though I would have expected more density in between the epicondyles. So probably CT

Buy European@feddit.uk•A guide to switching your Music Streaming provider to support more ethical and European-based companies!
1·10 months agoBandcamp is US owned, but still worth mentioning I think because of their commitment to high revenue sharing, about 80-82% goes directly to the artists. They have custom playlists, and offer high quality formats as well.
If the goal is a quality product and an ethical approach to supporting artists I’m not dead set on only using European alternatives

No, always send more emails. Let them know again and again that we don’t want this and they should oppose harder and louder to MEP’s from other countries that are not yet opposed. Make them work for us, as is their job.
Edit: sent some emails and even called some of my MEP’s as well as the Danish ministry of justice (that was a weird conversation, but satisfying to do)
