  • It’s important to actually give them attention when they want it, and make sure they are adequately played with so they can power themselves out; Feliway diffusors can help smooth over tensions if the fights get out of hand, and make sure you have at least 3 cat toilets (1 per cat +1 is the rule) and enough spaces where they can retreat to (ideally somewhere farther up so they can see their surroundings)

If they aren’t fixed yet, get it done; they tend to become more amicable afterwards (can take a few weeks).

If the aggression gets out of hand, there are hormone-chips that are normally used to temporarily (6 months) sterilize cats, which also make them more chill. We have one cat that was massively jealous, attacking the others out of the blue, where we had to take this measure. It stabilized the social order and now he doesn’t need them anymore.

At the end of the day, you can’t stop it completely, only lower the intensity. Cats use those conflicts to define the social order. As long as they don’t hurt each other for real (a bit of fur doesn’t count) it’s pretty normal.

One of my cats once escaped out of a window at ground level (he managed to dismantle the netting while i slept, it’s the only time any cat of mine managed to do something like this), and the big explorer promptly got scared and hid in the insides of a car parked directly outside. He didn’t get hurt (except his ego), but was full of oil and dust from the breakpads. That’s the only time i thoroughly bathed him (and paid the blood price). You are right of course that bathing isn’t something you should do just because, but if the cat is actually full of very unhealthy stuff, i want to prevent him eating all of that while he grooms himself.

  • I’ve seen discussion of this occurring in other communities too (can’t remember which tho, sorry), and stumbled upon a few of those posts too where post and user were gone (i’ve always got a tab with piefed open, and don’t always refresh the page when it’s been not too long, so i still see the post as active when in reality it’s been deleted already), so i can attest to this happening.

eta: the content seems to be divisive, and it’s definitely every day, but i can’t make a good estimate of the amount of this type of post happening

Be meticulous with the cat toilet, and since he has issues with respiratory infections, make sure the cat litter does not create too much dust. Other than that, keep weighting the cat on the regular, since weight loss is an early indicator for issues. A yearly blood count, serum biochemical analysis, and urine analysis can catch issues early.

Thanks for taking a FIV+ cat in! My mother’s two cats were FIV+ (she was helping out a shelter with harboring FIV+ cats, and those two stayed in the end), and they lived for years without major issues with regular screening and early prevention if issues popped up.

  • I have to agree, even if i have no issue with GenAI itself. No one needs that many datacenters as they are planning. Adoption will crash as soon as they try monetizing it for real. Even if they try using cloud gaming as a load in those centers - not one person i know would trade their local PC for something that’s dependent on a fast internet connection without data caps and introduces permanent 100ms+ delay on all games.

I swapped my 3070Ti 8GB to a 5070 16GB, if i sell off the 3070TI the upgrade cost me 300€ (but i tend to keep it as a backup), and I can run my local GenAI and LLM without issues now, I don’t need datacenters, i need CDNs so i can get my content i run locally. and TBH if they really try to kill local compute in gaming: i have enough games here to last me for a decade or more without getting bored, and i can play all of that while sitting in a mountain cabin.
