I feel that. I spent 80+ hours making a lore video a few years back which never got any views. Saw someone else literally just read off the games wiki on a video and they got some numbers.

Generally, yes. I spent years of quite a bit of effort to only surround myself with people who treat me as an equal & share my general values. I have to turn my brain off during serving-the-capitalists hours though.

That was the most jarring thing for me transitioning from a community/junior college to a private university. Pretty much every teacher I had in CC was there because they loved to teach, but didn’t want to teach children. It really depends what you’re interests are. If you like art, start checking out artsy spaces and public events. If you like games try hanging out in game or card shops. It took me 3-4 months of showing up to art/music festivals before I started running into people I recognized and felt comfortable chatting up. My experience isn’t universal, but as a socially anxious person it required a lot of discomfort and patience.
