2·10 days agoIt depends on your level of expertise. It is still the case for a good senior technician. They unfortunately don’t grow on trees and the better the guy the more he’s dancing on the nose of his working environment.
You do realize that a CD player, books, music, games etc are technology too right? Yes modern corpo tech is bullshit but that is not the fault of technology and there are alternatives to everything. Its a question of convenience. Do you want to be spoon fed with a pretty solution that gets marketed to everyone? Well you gonna have a bad time in the long run…
I will not touch on the NoScript topic, it works fine for me, but I could recommend you blocking Cookie Banners in uBlock Origin. That way you don’t have to click anything.
Yes I rarely play day one releases, but I did with some titles, from the top of my head there was Tony Hawk Pro Skater remastered, Lies of P, Baldurs Gate 3 and Path of Excile 2.
It worked pretty good, what exact package is it that you are looking for that makes gaming on Debian impossible in regards to something like PopOs or Ubuntu, I mean you do realize that they are Debian systems right? Of course if I get a RTX 5090 on day one, I will run into issues, but I am using AMD Hardware, I don’t really have any problems. But I would argue, that running on day one hardware with a fresh 9000 Dollar RTX 6090, you are not an average user nor are you an average gamer.
Well if you have less problems on the side its a better overall distro.
Ubuntu is shit, I’d recommend to switch to Debian Stable. You will have less problems.
As I said, viewing it as entryship into GIS solely by the question of “what is GIS” because it is one of the labels is fair enough, but it is a very loose connection. A science community without reviewing those experiments is also not much of a science community.
