By modern automotive standards, manual transmissions are already obsolete. That said… They’re so damn fun to drive, and you feel way more in control because in some sense you are. Just not in the power and fuel savings that the machine picks

My team recently migrated to graphql and they don’t even do it right. The graphql layer still makes REST calls and then translates them to a gql format, so not only do we get no time or computing savings, we also get the bullshit errors

But that’s not the point. Of course it costs money, but they’re not content providing it for free. A lot of hardware companies provide additional apps and functionality for free to enhance the hardware and make it better, but Canon chose to monetize it

Probably because the software team is under a different cost center than the hardware/camera team, and they weren’t generating revenue. So the idiot assholes at the top of the SW side said “we can monetize our webcam software” and a bunch of people agreed so they could look relevant and keep their jobs. Capitalism!

The UI looks the same but it’s actually reworked to make it more compatible with touchscreens. Haven’t played too much but that’s a huge QOL thing I’ve noticed already
