Hey guys, Im trying to get rid of google apps so I have installed GCAM port MGC_8.9.097_A11_V4_ENG and simple gallery pro from fdroid. They are both amazing, but when Im in camera app and I want to use thumbnail to open last picture in gallery, it does open but then after 2 sec screen refreshes like I reopened the app. And even worse, if I try to open gallery right after taking picture it will open new picture for 2 sec and then screen refresh and switch to 2nd last picture. Anyone had simmilar experience? Different versions of apps didnt help and cant find any replacement that works. I also cleared catch and data for both.

Im using non rooted Motorola G42

I use Secure Camera by GrapheneOS on my Samsung A53, together with Simple Gallery. Working well enough for me!

There’s an app called “Gallery” on F-Droid that’s really good, but it doesn’t fix that camera issue. afaik there’s no fix.

Cant find it on f droid. I found 2 on play store, one of them is google offline galery. The other one works as well, but seems like its not gallery problem. Doesnt matter what gallery I chose, same thing happens

GCam requires the Google Photos app to be installed to load previews.

One way to fix this without installing it is to use GCamPhotosPreview. I use it myself and it works as expected

Thanks for sharing. I tried to follow the steps, cant uninstall gphotos, so I disabled it. Then I downloaded the apk and it offered me to update (instead of install) and update fails saying package appears to be invalid. Shame, that looked promissing.

Not sure if its the same error I get, but one way to fix it in my experience is the ‘Uninstall Updates’ button (if you can’t find it in settings its sometimes shown in the play store).

Then you can install the app and it’ll update, because android doesn’t like ‘updating’ to a lower version number.
