Unironically yes. Switching to Linux gave so much peace of mind through this wave of enshittification. I know my system will remain user-centric for eternity to come, and will work in my interests.

I had to use a Windows 11 computer a couple of days ago. I can identify with this meme.

This happens with age. After multiple cycles of FOMO driven by the pushing of consumer demand you eventually realise it’s all bullshit and attain a state of JOMO.

It’s why people chasing the latest graphics card “ray tracing” bullshit seems so pointless.

I was one of those who used to dream of real time ray tracing before it became a thing. And now that it’s a thing, I feel uninterested by it (didn’t event try to buy one of those GPUs. It’s as if the dream was more fun to have than having it in reality.

I can just emulate God of War on my Steam Deck and it looks amazing at 2x resolution. Much better than a fancy looking game that isn’t fun. Looking at you Cyberpunk.

For people who apparently want to disconnect, they sure seem to obsess about it a lot.

It’s like all the people from Team Fortress communities that constantly talk about Overwatch, while the Overwatch communities just kind of… exist.

Considering how pretty much all of the actual problems with Linux are due to the fact that many software and hardware vendors don’t support it due to low market share, it makes sense that we’d be aware of what the OS with the vast majority of the market share is doing. I’d love to “disconnect” from Windows entirely and not care about it, similarly to how I couldn’t tell you what version Mac OS is on right now, but we’re not there yet.

I mean I want to disconnect from League of Legends, but now that I am slowly getting there it’s kinda just funny how crappy the balancing is in places. Stuff that used to frustrate me to no end in the game, is now entertaining. Obviously cause it does not happen to me anymore. It’s a mix of Schadenfreude and justification for me not playing the game anymore.

Not all the anti cheat systems will work in Linux, some vendors will flat out ban you even when you can get the software working.

Anyways Fortnight works if you use the https://lutris.net/ system. Lutris is pretty cool, it’s mostly just a frontend that does all the configuration for you. If you create an account, you can almost one click install most of your games.

2 years left still. Hopefully by that time Linux gains enough popularity that developers consider supporting it. At the very least Ubuntu.

Some of my best memories involve the sentence “Fuck it, I’ll stay home”.

Also, some of my worst memories involve the sentence “Fuck it, I’ll stay home”.

Chose your “I’ll stay home” moments wisely.

Also, I have to use Win 11 atm and it will be part of my worst memories as soon as I can stop this.

Microsoft stops giving updates to end of life products. Unless it’s LTSC 21H2, you might want to consider installing the regular release of Windows. The LTS version doesn’t allow you to migrate away from it, so it won’t upgrade. You have to reinstall Windows.

It is 21H2. Plus I have no reason to ever upgrade. Windows 10 is better than Windows 11 IMHO. The specific reason I use LTSC is because it doesn’t come with all the bloat that a normal install comes with.

LTS version is hardened and more secure by default. But that also makes it a pain in the ass.

If you ever do get around to upgrading and don’t want the bloat, the N version is what you want. It’s the European version and doesn’t have any extras.

N Version is not ideal for Gaming, i tried it years ago and GTA 5 / Rockstar Launcher had issues with missing codec or something.

Sure it is. You just have to manually install Windows Media Player and sometimes other proprietary codecs. I use Windows 11 N on my computer currently. I play games of at least 3 launchers that I can think of.

Red Dead 2, GTA 4 & 5, I have played these games on my current system
