I don’t disagree. I believe if public/government funds are used to develop software, that software should be open source. Same with many of the developments paid for by the government… If we the people are paying for it, it should be open

Right? All of the “if only you gave X11 a chance to develop this it would’ve been fine” at the same time as showing how diametrically opposed the maintenance team’s philosophy is… Not a compelling argument
Interesting arguments but it absolutely reads like fanboyism. The “features missing from Wayland” in particular reads like someone who didn’t care to give Wayland a fair shot

Since this is the Linux gaming sub, you would kinda be expected to notice the Proton in the GPU driver field in the OP. It’s also kinda safe to assume someone posting in Linux gaming is talking about, well, Linux gaming.
How exactly is moving away from centralized, controlled infrastructure “fascist”?
It sounds like you’re conflating Bitcoin with cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is power hungry. Not all crypto is proof-of-work, and actually, most aren’t. Not all crypto has insane transaction fees, that’s mostly a Bitcoin thing. These are massive issues with Bitcoin which is why I’m surprised anyone still values Bitcoin at all.
Or… One of the primary reasons decentralized cryptocurrency was invented
Who are these liberals and are they in the room with us right now?
This is memes not politics but also what the fuck are you talking about
This move has been incredibly unpopular with his most loyal followers
Any source for that? I’m very curious who is most loyal followers are and what they have to say about it
I’m only more confused
Find me a dumb tv anywhere near the performance+size+price of a mid-to-high end smart TV right now. I can find some monitors but they’re not well reviewed, not readily available to consumers, not meeting the same specs for e.g. HDR, wide gamut, or otherwise, while being wildly more expensive.
This is not a failure of the consumer. There is no way to vote with your money if you’re looking for a good TV.
“Breaks all compatibility [with emby]” was my interpretation of that. Not a huge deal either way but I’d definitely have been calling it 11 with this DB rework myself
Basically, yes. Forces plugins not to use potentially database-engine-specific SQL so that server admins don’t have to select their DB based on plugins for jellyfin being compatible.
I kinda agree here. https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/contributing/release-procedure/
Claims to follow semantic versioning, explicitly mentioning changes to plugin APIs as reasoning for a new major version.
Really exciting stuff, I can’t WAIT to get the DB out of sqlite and into something a little bigger and better
The description calling it double gnarly hand gestures is tops
I have a benefit of the doubt thing here, not that any billionaire I’ve heard of deserves it. If I suddenly had a billion dollars, would I donate to an existing charity with an administration I don’t know and trust or would I think “hmm I can better choose what happens with this money” and start my own charitable enterprise? Like a bill/Miranda Gates situation.
I know if I had a billion dollars worth of shares of a company I wouldn’t necessarily liquidate it all for philanthropy either. Do I hold onto control of these stocks while attempting to guide the company in a more ethical way? Idk. It’s an interesting thought
As if that was an experience only offered to women
