Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can I run a server just for myself?English
6·2 年前I’m running my own server, but it can’t run on user device reliably, because most federated networks working in push mode, means remote server pushing new content to yours. And if your device will be offline you won"t receive content you miss.

81·2 年前nvidia works fine in Linux, haven’t encountered any big problems ever in laptops. Just make sure that this is a discrete adaptor which will be used only for gaming or rendering (VAAPI, CUDA, etc.).

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is Systemd that bad afterall?English
104·2 年前It’s not THAT bad. It was THAT BAD remembering who invented and pushed it. You know, all these psh-sh-sh-sh-audio memes. People just do not want to:
- Use software written by developer who didn’t manage previous project to work properly.
- Change anything if it just works ©®™.
Currently systemd does its job well and right, despite on fact that systemd not so modular as you would expect. Event hardcore systemd haters now using it and happy. Including me :)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do people host Lemmy instances and how do they pay for them?English
1·2 年前I shouldn’t, but MAY.
Also I recommend not to use it because relying on fourth party things for accessibility isn’t good. Imagine what would happen when cloudflare will “experience technical difficulties” ©®™.
Not feeding trolls.
