Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•What launcher should I replace Nova with?
2·2 months agoYeeah it’s kinda unintuitive, and on several occasions have apps been removed from folders on my device after they had received an update. Still a great launcher overall. 😊

Can’t argue with that, I think that’s true. On the other hand, it creates dependencies on a one-man project which in the long run might not be a sustainable and secure choice. Also, does it still have Brave as the default browser? Because that is honestly a huge dealbreaker for me, Brave as a project is disgusting.
Edit: forgot to add a source in order to be a credible internet stranger. https://thelibre.news/no-really-dont-use-brave
not really, that’s just Fedora with a fake Moustache glued on :) OP didn’t say they were incapable of installing a few packages, which in my opinion is the only selling point for Nobara.
Strange to see no one recommending plain old Fedora yet 😢 it’s stable, performant, up to date, and compatible with just about any hardware. I’m daily-driving it on my notebook, playing tons of games without issues. As for desktop environments, I’d highly recommend KDE plasma since you won’t have to relearn everything at once (compared to GNOME), and also the KDE apps are a lot more configurable than GNOME’s. Keep away from Cinnamon (default for Linux Mint!) or Xfce unless you really know what you’re doing 😄

29·4 months agoI read a great article recently that tries to analyze what exactly went down and for what reasons. And most importantly, the effects it’s going to have on different hardware prices: https://www.mooreslawisdead.com/post/sam-altman-s-dirty-dram-deal
Maybe this was true five years ago, but with heroic I’ve never had any setup issues.

10·1 year agoMy European friends here: do whatever you can to make EUVD a viable alternative. It’s a vulnerability database led by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity enisa. Since their website is relatively new, you can help by providing feedback though this survey. Yes, the CVE funding has been continued for another year. But a sustainable approach to vulnerability management cannot be dependent on a single government-owned / funded entity any longer! I wish the board members all the best in transferring CVE to a new umbrella organization, but now is a great time to also consider global alternatives.

Oh neat, I didn’t know about that one. Nice work!
Thanks for the love! This is a passion project I have been preparing for over a year now, and only recently I’ve gained the technical expertise to approach it again. I’d love to see some contributions to the site, mainly by adding project configuration files (a few lines of YAML containing official project links and RSS feeds).

What differentiates this project from others like the Linux Game Book or LibreGameWiki, is that I never intended it to be a fully fledged game database. It’s just meant to highlight recent activities in the FOSS gaming world, forwarding directly to the source posts rather than maintaining a database of game metadata.
While I’m here, I also invite you to check out my dedicated community over at !fossgaming@feddit.org
that would be me, thanks! 💚
Yeah, what in the hell? 😅

That doesn’t seem to be a generic issue, I am still running Teams through Firefox as a PWA on Ubuntu.
