I’m partway through The Have and Have-Yachts: Dispatches on the Ultra Rich by Evan Osnos. It is a collection of essays originally published in the New Yorker dissecting the culture and fads of the modern Gilded Age.
I also STRONGLY recommend the Culture series by Iain Banks. It is perhaps the most realistic and well though out sci-fi utopia.
The Roaring Fork Valley has like 50k or 40k total. Maybe more if you throw in some of Colorado Valley towns like Rifle and Silt.
I got one off of marketplace in great condition for a good deal. It is very practical and fun to drive. Also you get a lot of looks.
I guess so. I just don’t see where they’re going with it.
Why?
You can run the mainboard outside of the chais in an external enclosure.
Wow this is a great blog! Thanks for the recommendation.
Unfortunately it is not…
Yep. Same here.
Cope.
It is absolutely possible to build infrastructure that is not car centric. Of course, they are always going to be people who need a car to get around but that doesn’t mean that we can’t design cities that don’t require cars.
Well my understanding is that visa, MasterCard ECT. Are far more efficient in terms of energy and transaction time when compared to Bitcoin and Ether. Visa uses about a quarter of the power per 100,000 transactions.
So I would assume that would mean fewer data center computers to cool and therefore less water used per transaction
Assam is delicious. It’s known as the king of teas for a reason.
I feel like I’ve been shilling beeper a lot recently. They may or may not read my messages but at least they open source their inferstructure and contribute to the FLOSS projects they use.
Fair enough. Although if you are interested all of their messaging bridges are available on their GitHub if you would like to self host them with your own matrix server. That way you don’t have to worry about them decrypting and reencrypting your messages.
I recommend getting beeper it’s similar to sunbird although it is paid but they do open source all of their back end infrastructure. Beeper is essentially just a matrix client for a bunch of different chat service bridges.
Would a Framework laptop work?
I have very mixed opinions of McCarthy. He focuses on the grim darkness of humanity a lot. If that is what you want to hear all you have to do is turn on the news. I thought The Road was well done but super depressing. In the process of reading All The Pretty Horses and it’s tone is much more upbeat. But his style is cribed almost entirely from Hemmingway.
