Obviously I don’t know anything about you but I have cystic fibrosis so I lose a TON of salt and do need a high salt diet, some people who carry the cystic fibrosis gene express it fairly strongly and need more salt… could be something unusual like that I guess

Does your partner want this? Every partner I’ve ever had thought he was doing me a favor by becoming hairless in some way, shaving his chest or manscaping all the way down to the skin and I hate it! Keeping things tidy is one thing, shaving down to the skin is another. So unless your partner has expressed a desire for you to do this, ask them first! If you already know this is something they want from you, well good on you for trying to do it the best way possible
