Money spent not just on politicians and lobbyists but mercenary scientific outfits that start from the conclusion and design a study to get there, publications and media to get it coverage, lobbyists to take it to the politicians, then donations to the politicians.

I suspect there are direct payments of some kinds or another in a great many circumstances, and that with this new president it’s like everyone pays and he always gets a cut. But I bet there are straight up bribes more than we would think, the supreme court basically made it legal through a number of rulings so it’s not much of a stretch to presume that.

Pesticides are some of the worst most overused chemicals out there, systematically harming everyone to a degree, likely a factor in the vastly lowered sperm counts in the past couple of decades from prior. Also in the collapse of frog, and insect populations, the latter down 90 percent over the last 30 years or so.

A new study from UCLA Health has found that long-term residential exposure to the pesticide chlorpyrifos is associated with more than a 2.5-fold increased risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. The research, published in the journal Molecular Neurodegeneration, combines human population data with laboratory experiments showing how the pesticide damages dopamine-producing brain cells, providing biological evidence for the link.

Back when I lived in a rural area, I always hated driving by the fields while the tractors were spraying. It felt like I was being violated chemically. People have a right to clean air, do they not?

Of course, they thought I was just a stupid liberal. I can’t tell you how many times someone told me “It’s not harmful to humans.”
