It was always gonna be 2050 before it became 2000 so technically we’ve been closer to 2050 for over 25 years
If I had to guess, probably since right around 2000.

There are 49 years between 12/31/2000 and 1/1/2050 so yeah this seems right.
Just think about all the shit you had to do to get from then to now, and then imagine that you have to do all of it all over again.
