So Gears Of War is not an Xbox exclusive anymore (to be clear, this is a good thing). So what on Earth is the point in an Xbox again?

With cross-play across all platforms, you and your friends can squad up no matter where you play — no Microsoft account required.

However, signing in with a Microsoft account unlocks full cross-platform functionality. It enables cross-progression, so your Campaign and multiplayer progress carries across devices. It also allows you to send invites and play with friends across platforms — like Xbox to PlayStation or Steam to Xbox.

Honestly, this is the way to handle the incorporation of platform-specific accounts; totally optional, but actually gives you a sensible benefit if you choose to go that route. Sony could learn a lot here.

Agreed completely, I just wish that they would stop remastering Gears 1 only and give 2 and 3 some much deserved love too.

Finally I’ll be able to replay the first Gears of War.

If it runs on the Steam Deck, I might even play it there instead of on my ps5.

The first one was great. So full of camp and didn’t take itself seriously like the later games did.

    WOO WOO!

Never played the gears games except for the last one a little because I had gamepass and a PC. It was ok, but it just felt like a room after room of bullet sponge enemies, which got old fast. It will be very weird playing gears on a ps5, probably a lot like when Sonic dropped on Nintendo for the first time.

It’s a weird game design. All of the enemies are like little mini bosses and they all have their own weak points you have to target to do any real damage, and unless you know that it just sort of feels like a shooter where the enemies have too much health. Off the top of my head I can’t even remember how good they are and actually broadcasting that information, it might very well be only in the tutorial or when you encounter a new type of enemy.

While I enjoyed Gears of War Ultimate Edition they really should’ve remastered 2,3 and Judgement.

I would’ve really liked playing the RAAM DLC again with higher graphics and on PC. Ah the nostalgia.

Is that actually the reason GOW never came to PC? I never heard that, but it was also before I had a gaming PC. So it’s not like I was actively invested in whether or not it was available.

        Yep. Piracy.

        https://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/epic-no-gears-of-war-2-pc/1/

The PC right now is a fair amount different to what it was back in the day, with all the badly integrated video chips," said Cliff.

“Here’s the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know bit torrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC.”

He said that in 2006 so I guess it kinda made sense. It should have been re-released long before that though
