• It probably goes without saying at this point, but deporting someone to a culture in which they’re not competent is wildly immoral, and doing so in such a way that they end up encarcerated in subhuman conditions especially despite not committing a crime in that jurisdiction is monstrous.

they end up encarcerated in subhuman conditions

If that’s the standard we can’t detain them in the US either.

      • You’re not wrong, but US standards are higher (as sad as that sounds). Prisoners should have rights and that can’t be accomplished unless they’re incarcerated in the jurisdiction that defines those rights.

Aside about Rwanda - not only are they another dictatorial country, but they are also heavily backing the M23 militia in the DRC who have been committing some pretty horrible war crimes. Rwanda claims they aren’t tied to M23 at all, yet things have been happening like Rwanda suddenly exporting resources that it doesn’t have (that do exist within the DRC)

The war in the DRC has substantially less attention in the west than that of Ukraine and Gaza, but is still pretty horrifying

Rwanda probably wants them to conscript them to a rebel group.

Outrages. Our government shouldn’t just be able to send people anywhere they want.
