Travel to the US by Canadian residents has continued to drop significantly for the seventh month in a row, as new data confirms that Donald Trump’s threats have helped upend the summer tourism season.

Statistics Canada said on Monday that the number of Canadian residents who made a return trip to the US by car dropped 36.9% in July 2025, compared with the same month in 2024.

There were declines in air travel as well, where Canadian residents returning from the US by commercial airlines dropped by 25.8% in July compared with the previous year.

There’s been a few things I’ve wanted to cross for, even seriously considered it once 2 months ago until my wife said absolutely not.

What’s sad is I wanted to visit Florida, NYC, and a few other spots. I doubt we’ll ever go back now.

    • You’re not missing much skipping out on Florida. Its like California except all the people in charge of the place have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. You’d be much better of visiting Cali/Hawaii or somewhere along the coast of Mexico.

Of course. Most Americans are our friends, I hope there’s another day when I feel safe to travel to your country again.

As a long time NYer (I miss it) who now lives in Toronto, just take a day trip to Toronto. Nearly everything is better here. It’s smaller for sure, but the trees don’t look like they want to die and the smell of piss doesn’t permeate the air for half the year. It’s also slightly cheaper. The two cities are very diverse and share a lot of the same culture
