For example, a bank can use a service to connect to a scheme (say SEPA, or FPS, or whatever). Source: I have been employed by a company who does this.
Seconded for wire transfer. I don’t know as much about it, but going directly through banks without an intermediary who might sell your data is preferable.
SEPA Direct Debit is also a wire transfer (bank to bank)
