So if I had medical debt and the hospital didm’t cash the check even after I called to tell them the check was delivered and they sent it to collections, who would I go to for disputing their incompetence?
I hope the west coast secedes and I can move there. If not I’m sure Canada will have room for another worthless linux nerd who only has work experience in retail.
Did you send it in a traceable way, and have proof? Then dispute it with Experian, Equifax, and Transunion, attaching the proof with the dispute. If you didn’t, you’re fucked.
Yeah. I paid it through my insurance who sent the check through instamed. Which, coincidentally, is the same company handling the pay if you pay the hospital directly through their website. Which makes it even more embarassing on their part.
It was only $166 so I don’t have to worry unless the law is repealed and they make it retroactive. It shouldn’t be retroactive but this admin has pure contempt for anything decent humans would do so.

Dispute it preemptively.
CFPB?
Worst comes to worst, a lawyer.
That agency has been effectively crippled.
I’ve got some bad news.
