The federal judge overseeing the case of a man mistakenly deported to El Salvador said she would allow for expedited fact-finding to help her figure out whether the Trump administration is complying with her order that it “facilitate” his return from one of the country’s notorious mega-prisons.
They have the Marshals, and the judge could indeed order a government official arrested.
In sane times, yes. But US Marshals are a part of the Dept of Justice, which answers to the Executive. So I’ll let you guess how that would play out if they were ordered to arrest Trump or anyone else in his circle.
The court needs to do this and see what happens. A civil war may be the only way out of this.
